  • Student Support Officer

    Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys are looking to appoint a motivated and inspiring Student Support Officer, to be available to provide care and guidance to students in the moment and refer on to appropriate services as and when needed.  The role will include aspects of conflict resolution and restorative practice to aid students in their peer relationships.  It will also include supporting all staff, in particular the pastoral team, to resolve issues with student behaviour.

    The successful applicant will have the ability to work with students whilst undertaking the work set and to ensure a constructive and ordered learning environment.  To challenge, motivate and inspire young people to achieve their potential.

    We are looking for a Student Support Officer who will:

    • Be passionate about improving the lives of students
    • Who believes in success for everyone
    • Has experience of working with young people aged 11 – 16
    • Has a professional appearance, attitude and will be able to deal with staff, students and parents with confidence
    • Strong interpersonal skills, be confident in their approach and demonstrate high levels of attention to detail

    PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a dedicated Head of Finance Operations. 

    Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will help deliver this for our schools. We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023.  We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational and planned to nearly double in size over the next 2 years.

    The successful candidate will be report to the CFO and manage the Trusts central finance team responsible for providing financial and accounting services across the Trust as well as supporting the CFO in the strategic development of the Trust. Applicants should have a suitable finance qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA etc.) and experience in academy finances is desired but not essential, more important are strong accountancy skills, a critical mind and positive leadership qualities.

    Specifically, we are looking for an individual that can:

    • Manage the central finance team in delivering day to day financial operations including purchase ledger, sales ledger, cash management and payroll.
    • Provide support and guidance to Business Managers throughout the Trust and put in place systems and processes to ensure consistency and compliance to the financial handbook.
    • Prepare monthly management accounts using the Trusts budget forecasting system and present financial information to all levels of management.
    • Oversee the closure and reconciliation of the accounts and assist the CFO in the preparation of the Statement of Accounts and supporting audit papers.
    • Assist the CFO in completing all returns to the ESFA including the Academy Accounts return and Budget Forecast Return.
    • Assist the CFO in preparing the short and long term budget plans utilising curriculum lead financial planning.

  • SCITT Teacher Training at Bannockburn

    Bannockburn Primary School works in conjunction with Teaching London: LDBS SCITT to recruit and train teachers on the School Direct programme leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

    What is School Direct?

    School Direct is a school-based route into teaching. As a School Direct trainee training with our school and our ITT provider, Teaching London, you’ll learn alongside inspiring, passionate teachers with outstanding pedagogical knowledge. You will be trained to become a successful, confident and effective teacher, and will be equipped to teach in a dynamic and vibrant primary school. You will undertake entirely ‘on the job’ teacher training, allowing you to gain the qualifications and practical skills required to become a teacher.
