  • Celebrating Pride Month 2025!

    Published 02/06/25

    Celebrating Pride Month 2025!

At Polymat, we believe in fostering a community where every student, teacher, and staff member feels safe, valued, and proud of who they are. This June, we stand together to celebrate Pride Month, honouring the LGBTQ+ community and the ongoing fight for equality. Whether you're learning, supporting, or celebrating, there’s a place for everyone in this movement.

Diversity is at the heart of what makes our community strong, and we celebrate the voices, experiences, and contributions of our LGBTQ+ members - not just this month, but every day. Let’s come together to uplift voices, share stories, and continue building a world of acceptance and love.

Pride Month 2025 is a time to celebrate, support, and learn about LGBTQ+ identity, history, and rights! For teenagers, it’s an opportunity to explore what Pride means - whether that’s standing up for equality, discovering LGBTQ+ role models, or simply expressing yourself freely. It's also a great chance to connect with inclusive communities, find support, and embrace diversity in schools and social spaces.

    How Can Teens Get Involved?

    • Attend Pride events and meet others in LGBTQ+ spaces.
    • Read books, listen to podcasts, or watch films that explore LGBTQ+ stories.
    • Share posts or support initiatives that uplift LGBTQ+ voices.
    • Educate friends and family about inclusivity and acceptance.

Pride Month is all about being proud, being informed, and being yourself!

Here are some great LGBTQ+ spaces and resources for young people in South East London:

  • Reflecting on two years: A look back at our 'Meet our Year 7' Film Project

    Published 21/05/25

It has been two years since we launched our 'Meet Our Year 7 Students' videos! This meaningful project was designed to give new and prospective students and their families an authentic glimpse into life at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys and Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls.

Transitioning from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone, but we understand it can also bring uncertainty and many questions about the future. To support this journey, we created two videos where students shared their experiences with honesty and openness.

For most of our students, it was their first time being part of a film project, and their confidence truly shone through. Over the course of a single day, the film crew captured candid, heartfelt reflections from students at both school sites, offering an insight into their daily routines, the friendships they’ve built, and the opportunities available to them.

These videos offer just a snapshot of the incredible work our staff across the Trust do every day to support and nurture our students. Their dedication ensures each child feels valued, encouraged, and challenged in their academic and personal growth. From inspiring lessons to pastoral care and enrichment opportunities, our staff play a vital role in shaping a welcoming and empowering environment for all students.

Now that these students are in Year 9, we are even more proud of how they’ve developed - growing in confidence, embracing new challenges, and becoming inspiring young individuals. Looking back on these videos, we celebrate not only their progress but also the incredible teamwork behind this project. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making it such a success!
