We have been supported by a wide range of external speakers over the last few years, who have given their time freely so that they too can ‘give back’ to the education community. This has included a number of personalities that are well-known in education, such as Ross Morrison-McGill (@teachertoolkit), Mark Sparvell (Global Director of Education, Microsoft), Rachel Johnson (CEO of PiXL), Amy-May Forrester (Author of “The Complete Guide to Pastoral Leadership”), Sufian Sadiq (Director of Teaching School at Chiltern Learning Trust), Hannah Jepson (Director of LGBTEd), Dr. Liz England (Clinical Director at Mindsafe) and Dr. Craig Blewett (Author of Activated Classroom Teaching), amongst many others. These external speakers provide valuable insight for PolyMAT staff and the wider education community, and complement the presentations provided by members of PolyMAT staff.

Here are some quotes from a few of our speakers:
Happy Chinese New Year to all the families within our School communities from everyone at PolyMAT!
Chinese New Year, also known as Lunar New Year, is the most important festival in China & a major event in some East Asian countries.
The Chinese New Year is often called the Lunar New Year or the Spring Festival. These names are in relation to the use of the lunisolar calendar to determine when the next Chinese New Year will fall, as well as the celebration of warmer weather and new growth.
For 2023, the Chinese New Year will start on Sunday 22 January and celebrates the Year of the Rabbit.
Matthew Kleiner-Mann CEO of the Ivy Learning Trust, alongside Tim Plumb, CEO of PolyMAT and Gillian Kemp CEO of University Schools Trust coordinated this fantastic event. This was the first event of its kind and was an incredibly successful day.
Claire Burton the Regional Director for London was in attendance as the keynote speaker and it was so wonderful to have the opportunity to discuss the development of education in London with her, ask questions and to hear all about her thoughts and ideas.
‘A fantastic opportunity to help trusts network throughout London. Great to see so much good practice being shared. Brilliant being able to work with Matthew and Gillian planning the day. Looking forward to the next conference ’ – Tim Plumb

Try something new this January!
We recently took part in a project with Funding Solutions for Education working with local businesses and organisations to create 3,000 branded folders for our trust.
We firstly wanted to thank all the businesses that chose to take part in this project and for supporting our trust, our schools, and our vision. Thank you to the following businesses:
We have just received the folders and wanted to share how amazing they look; the quality of print and design is fantastic. These folders are very versatile in that they can hold a number of booklets/documents and will be used for a number of different reasons. We cannot wait to start using these folders across PolyMAT, Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys and Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls. This has been a fantastic project, and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with FSE.
Today is the day! PolyMAT presents Series 6!
Topics include: Active Classroom Teaching (ACT), 21st Century Learning Design (21CLD), Digital pedagogies, Minecraft for Education, Kahoot, Nearpod, Questioning and Formative Assessment.
