Woolwich Waves: Making a Splash for Our Schools and Community!
Big news! The Royal Borough of Greenwich has handed over Woolwich Waves, a brand-new, state-of-the-art leisure centre, to Better (GLL) and it’s opening on New Year’s Day 2026.
For our Trust, this isn’t just a leisure centre - it is a game-changer for our students, families, and the whole community.
What’s inside?
- Three amazing pools for swimming, splashing, and learning new skills
- A two-storey gym packed with the latest equipment
- Sports halls and studios for everything from basketball to dance
- Family-friendly spaces where everyone can come together
Woolwich Waves is one of the greenest leisure centres in the UK, aiming for a BREEAM Outstanding rating (only the second in the country). Solar panels will generate enough energy to heat Woolwich Waves, the refurbished Tramshed Theatre, and even new homes - helping Greenwich move closer to being carbon neutral by 2030.
What does this mean for our schools and families?
- Health & Wellbeing: Students can dive into fitness and fun
- Community Spirit: A place for families to connect and celebrate
- Opportunities: Jobs, apprenticeships, and pathways into sport and leisure
- A Greener Future: Sustainable spaces that benefit generations to come
As a Trust, we believe in building futures. Woolwich Waves embodies that vision - creating spaces where ambition can flourish, families feel supported, and young people thrive in a healthier, more sustainable Greenwich.
